Why do we have large corporations?

This is an interesting comment I found from the poster Everyday Anarchist:

It is possible that the prevalence of large corporations is an unintended consequence of government intervention. Coase said the firm is a means of reducing transaction costs. Various interventions such as taxes and regulations increase transaction costs and make larger firms more efficient.
